Activities Drap-Art’19, 23 and 24 November
After the inaugural week with urban art in the street in front of the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, with Art is Trash and SOEM (Base Elements Gallery), the second weekend Drap-Art’19 opens its cycle of activities in El Borsí.
This year Drap-Art takes place in three emblematic locations of Ciutat Vella District: The exhibition at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, open from Sunday to Monday from 10am to 8pm (access until 7:30pm), the Market of recycling art and responsible consumption in Plaza Real, open from 11am to 10pm with a free workshop from 12am to 2pm, and activities in El Borsí.
The old Llotja of Avinyó street, also known as El Borsí, closed its doors in 2009 and since then a neighborhood movement hasdeveloped, whose claims have succeeded in creating a project for it to become a socio-cultural community space for the neighborhood. Drap-Art has collaborated in the recovery process of this emblematic building and is part of the El Borsí pel barri Platform, since its creation. Our activities begin with a proposal by Neret Art Social that consists of a conversation-debate by Arcadi Oliveras and Hanafi El-kadoui accompanied by an artistic installation with poems by Hanafi himself, chairs artistically intervened by Pilu Sala (design and creation of fabrics by Blanca Gimeno and structures and lighting by Sonus), which expresses the hardness of the migratory process and the willingness to receive and welcome newcomers.
Colloquium-conversation: “Globalization, borders, health and Human Rights”
The world is a space for all. Borders are geopolitical control areas often assaulted to invade territories and exploit their resources, preventing people from rebuilding their lives in the countries that promote this destruction. The globalization of resources destroys local economies. We live with the free movement of money, but we do not accept that of the victims of plunder and wars. This socio-political and economic context affects individual and community health. In short, the neoliberal structure submits us and prevents us from developing according to our capabilities and human rights. The colloquium will revolve around this reality and the possible ways of re-thinking it, proposing a transformation of our gaze and action.
