Artist of the month: Miguel González, August 2022

For the second edition of the artist of the month we will have Miguel González on display, with his project Lámparas González (Gonzalez Lamps)

On August 4 at 7:30pm we will open the exhibition in the Drap-Art space, where we will welcome you together with the artist. 

The works will be exhibited until September 30, to give those who are on vacationi in August the chance to see it.

Miguel was born in Geneva in 1964, but Barcelona has always been his city. He has participated in several editions of Drap-Art International Festival of Sustainable Art of Catalonia, the last time during the 25th anniversary, in 2021, where he presented the collection of lamps of which some will be in exhibition during the month of August and September in the Drap-Art space.

Gónzalez needs to create, and he does so with his hands, from scratch. With no longer used objects he tries to express the charm of simplicity. Instead of hiding the imperfections of the materials, he celebrates resilience and adaptation. González advocates a beauty that arises from the incomplete, the humble or the “defective” emphasizing the idea of the passage of time as something natural and, in its own way, beautiful.

Summer Schedule 

During the month of August, the gallery will be open from Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm. On Saturdays we continue to be at Plaza Real with the Market of artistic recycling and sustainable consumption, from 11am to 10pm. Now more than ever we need to encourage the change towards a more sustainable consumption and to give support to the agents of change.
