Drap-Art with Ocean Sole at Three Rivers Arts Festival
This year Tanja Grass, president of Drap-Art, the International Festival of Recycling Art from Barcelona, curates an installation of seven sculptures created by Ocean Sole from Kenya at Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh.
Ocean Sole’s mission is to up-cycle the Earth’s flip-flop pollution into inspiring art, to promote conservation, and to create employment.
Ocean Sole Africa turns flip-flops into art and functional products and, in turn, raises visual awareness of the problem at hand. By creating these masterpieces, we are not only creating employment for a country that has 40% unemployment, but also sending a message about how we can help our planet, our oceans and people, through creating beautiful art that portrays an important message about the state of our oceans.
