Óscar Martínez (San Luis Potosí, 1960)
At the age of 15 he began his studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in the capital of the state of San Luis Potosi. He studied and worked in various techniques: drawing, painting, perspective, graphic design, sculpture and engraving, deserving in 1980 the Special Engraving Award of the XV National Engraving Competition in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Since 1988 he has lived in Barcelona, where he held several group exhibitions with Guinovart, Ràfols Casamada, Vicente Rojo, among others (Galeria Trade Art, Llibre Objecte, 1989), private murals in the Barcelona Eixample (1992-1998) and dedicated himself to jewellery, especially silver. He has work spread across several countries around the world: Japan, France, Italy, Germany and Israel. He transforms-recycles matter looking for its plasticity. In the work presented, he has found it in nuts, bolts, washers, wire, marbles, wood, rubber, feathers and seamless plastic, crimped and pressurized.
