ISRAEL 1998

TELL ME WHAT YOU DUMP AND I’LL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE

EXCHANGE WORKSHOP II

From October 6 to 8, 1998
GARDEN OF THE SULTAN, JERUSALEM

Experience

In 1998, Doron Polak, head of the production company Proyective, invited us to Israel for an exchange workshop with Israeli, Catalan and Palestinian artists. The latter finally had to cancel their participation because just before the start, the second intifada began. Flo Guerín developed the name and concept, inspired by the workshop we held the year before in Montenegro. This time we collected materials in a poor neighborhood, a rich neighborhood, a secular neighborhood, a religious neighborhood and in the Gaza Strip. With these materials the artists worked 3 days live in the Sultan’s Garden, at the entrance of the Jaffa Gate to the old city of Jerusalem. It was a first attempt to foster understanding between the Palestinian and Jewish peoples through art. More followed. We received support from Barcelona City Council, Jerusalem City Council and the Fisher Peace Foundation.
